RAIN LEARNING TO PAINT DAY 1 ~ FIGURING IT OUT
As a children's art teacher, I thought it would be really funny AND fun to try to teach my smart horse, Rain, to paint. I procrastinated for a long time, teaching her lots of other tricks first. I figured it was halfway something we could actually do, and half pipe-dream. But one day, I just decided I had procrastinated long enough and got started on it. On the first day, she learned to combine nodding her head yes and holding a paintbrush without eating it or dropping it. The second day, she learned to touch the brush (no paint yet) to the canvas. And on the third day, we put it all together and she actually painted on canvas. I was so excited, I could hardly contain myself. I mean, what part of my horoscope would ever have predicted that I could do this with a horse? Not me! So, she LIKES it. I want to keep it fun. Sometimes she just waves the brush around, sometimes she tries to paint ME, and then the rest of the time, she actually does connect to the canvas and make strokes. What does she think? Well, I don't know. But I DO know that she is enjoying it. She has to think to do what we are doing, and she is a THINKER. She loves problem solving to figure out what I am asking of her. And she is QUICK. Anyway, hopefully you can tell what happened during those three days and also see on my face my wild excitement at this larky adventure and success.
